About CORES Somerville

CORES (Committee for Refugees from El Salvador) is a Somerville-based non-profit organization that was founded by two refugees from El Salvador who came to the U.S. in the 1980s to flee the Salvadorian Civil War. Since then, it has grown into a non-profit organization that supports many different communities in the greater Somerville area through ESL instruction, citizenship exam counsel, legal counsel, cultural resources, and more.

About Tufts Teach-IN CORES

CORES and Tufts University formed a coalition, called Teach-in-CORES. Teach-in-CORES is a Tufts student group that sends student volunteer teachers and tutors to CORES to support the ESL and citizenship classes. Through Teach-in-CORES, Tufts students work closely with CORES students, forming a bond and making the learning process more engaging, relevant, and communal.
